AHK-Cu and hair: what studies say
AHK-Cu is a copper peptide, a cousin of the well-known GHK-Cu, studied for its effect on the hair follicle. Here's what it is, what studies actually show, what distinguishes it from GHK-Cu, and its price.

What is AHK-Cu?
AHK-Cu is a tripeptide (alanine, histidine, lysine) bound to a copper ion. Its structure is very similar to that of GHK-Cu (glycine, histidine, lysine), the best-known copper peptide in cosmetics. Copper is a cofactor for enzymes involved in collagen synthesis and tissue repair.
AHK-Cu and hair: what studies say
The main reference is a study published in 2007 inArchives of Pharmacal Research(Pyo et al.). In the laboratory, AHK-Cu has:
- stimulated the elongation of human hair folliclesmaintained in culture (ex vivo) ;
- promoted the proliferation of dermal papilla cells, which control hair growth;
- reduces programmed cell death(apoptosis) of these cells.
These are the laboratory results(isolated cells and follicles): there are currently no large-scale clinical trials on AHK-Cu. This makes it an active research subject rather than an established treatment.
AHK-Cu or GHK-Cu: what are the differences?
| Peptide | Sequence | Main research focus | At MyPeptide |
|---|---|---|---|
| AHK-Cu | Alanine-Histidine-Lysine + copper | Hair follicle, dermal papilla | AHK-Cu 50 mg – €49.90 |
| GHK-Cu | Glycine-Histidine-Lysine + copper | Skin, healing, collagen; naturally present in plasma | GHK-Cu 50 mg – €49.90 |
The two are often studied together. Our GHK-Cu page provides detailed data on GHK-Cu.
Our certificate of analysis
Our AHK-Cu was analyzed by Janoshik: report #223446 (batch MP-777AH101, August 25, 2026), purity 99.649%. This report was prepared for a 100 mg vial; the shop sells AHK-Cu in 50 mg vials. It can be viewed, along with its verification key, on our certificates of analysis page.
Price and storage
AHK-Cu 50 mg is €49.90 per lyophilized vial (less than €1 per milligram), with delivery costing €10 from within the European Union. Powder form: store in the refrigerator, protected from light. Once dissolved in bacteriostatic water: refrigerate and use promptly. The blue color of the solution is normal: it comes from the copper.
Lyophilized copper peptide, analyzed by Janoshik (99.649%). Shipping from the European Union, delivery €10.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does AHK-Cu make hair grow?
In the laboratory, AHK-Cu stimulated the elongation of isolated human hair follicles and the proliferation of dermal papilla cells (Pyo et al., 2007). Large-scale clinical trials are not available; these results do not allow any effect to be promised.
What is the difference between AHK-Cu and GHK-Cu?
Only one amino acid changes: alanine for AHK-Cu, glycine for GHK-Cu. AHK-Cu is mainly studied for the hair follicle, GHK-Cu for the skin and wound healing.
Why is the AHK-Cu solution blue?
Because of the copper bound to the peptide: the copper complexes give a blue color. This is normal.
Is MyPeptide's AHK-Cu being analyzed?
Yes: Janoshik report #223446, 99.649% purity, carried out on a 100 mg vial from lot MP-777AH101. It can be viewed with its key on our certificates of analysis page.
What is the price of AHK-Cu?
€49.90 for a 50mg vial at MyPeptide, €10 delivery from the European Union.
