Cagrilintide 5mg
Le Cagrilintide 5mg(search code)AM833) is a long-acting analogue ofAmyline, a peptide hormone co-secreted with insulin by the beta cells of the pancreas. Developed by Novo Nordisk, it acts asdual agonist of amylin and calcitonin receptorsThis makes it one of the most studied molecules in the new generation of research peptides for satiety, appetite control, and weight loss. Its acylated structure gives it a long half-life, compatible with weekly administration protocols.
Mechanism of action
Amylin is a natural regulator of food intake that acts in conjunction with GLP-1. Cagrilintide mimics and prolongs this signaling through several converging pathways:
- Central satiety:Activates amylin receptors in the brainstem and hypothalamus nuclei, increasing the feeling of fullness and reducing food intake.
- Slowing of gastric emptying:It slows down the passage of food, prolonging the feeling of fullness after meals.
- Glucagon regulation:It reduces postprandial glucagon secretion, contributing to glycemic homeostasis.
- Complementary route to GLP-1:Amylin and GLP-1 act on distinct receptors, so their combination (studied under the name CagriSema, Cagrilintide + Semaglutide) produces an additive effect on weight loss.
In Phase 2 clinical trials, Cagrilintide monotherapy demonstrated body weight loss of up toapproximately 10 to 11%at the maximum dose, and up to15 to 22%in association with semaglutide according to the most recent research programs.
5mg format — For whom?
The 5 mg format is the ideal entry point for initiating a research protocol: it is suitable for gradual titration phases, exploratory studies at low to intermediate doses, and small-scale models. Economical, it allows for the validation of administration kinetics before moving to a larger format.
