Le WORDS-CMOTS-C (Mitochondrial Open Reading Frame of the twelve S rRNA type-C) is a 16-amino-acid mitochondrial derivative peptide (MDP) encoded in the 12S rRNA gene of the mitochondrial genome. Discovered in 2015 by Dr. Pinchas Cohen's team at the University of Southern California, it represents a major advance in understanding mitochondria-nucleus communication and the regulation of energy metabolism. MOTS-C is one of the few known peptides encoded in the mitochondrial genome and to exert systemic biological effects.
Molecular mechanism of action
MOTS-C exerts its effects via several metabolic signaling pathways: (1)AMPK activation(AMP-activated protein kinase) — central regulator of cellular energy metabolism, involved in mitochondrial biogenesis and fatty acid oxidation; (2)Nuclear translocation— during metabolic stress, MOTS-C migrates to the nucleus where it directly regulates the expression of genes related to metabolism; (3)Regulation of the folate cycle - AICAR— inhibits the AICAR pathway to rebalance cellular metabolic status; (4)Improved insulin sensitivity— via the activation of the GLUT4 transporter and the suppression of insulin resistance induced by saturated fatty acids.

40mg format
This bottle of40 mgThis is the volume format of MOTS-C: it contains the quantity of four 10 mg vials for a price that is nearly 37% lower, representing a saving of approximately €90 on the same quantity of peptide. It is suitable for long-term research protocols, studies requiring multiple series of dilutions, and avoids the need to store and reconstitute numerous vials.
Same batch, same freeze-drying process, and same Janoshik certificate of analysis as the standard format. For a first trial or a short protocol, theMOTS-C 10mgremains the most suitable format.
Reconstitution & Storage
Reconstitute with sterile or bacteriostatic water. In this format, 10 mL of bacteriostatic water yields a 4 mg/mL solution, and 5 mL yields an 8 mg/mL solution: adjust the volume to the desired working concentration. The reconstituted solution is stable for 4 weeks at +4°C protected from light — for a 40 mg vial, use a protocol compatible with this window or divide into sterile aliquots before freezing. The unreconstituted lyophilized powder can be stored for up to 24 months at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles and prolonged contact with air after reconstitution.
